About

I’m Rob Girard, English teacher in Tucson, Arizona, and this site is part of the Rob Girard Network. In 2005, I led my first group of student-travelers on a 31 day journey that began in London, England, ended in Athens, Greece, and which touched most of the European continent in between. We designated ourselves Team AZ to establish a separate identity from another insufferable group from California that we toured with. In a month of intense travel we learned more about the world and more about ourselves than we could’ve imagined.

In 2009, I led my second, different group of student-travelers, a new Team AZ, on a similar tour, and this trip was just as successful as the first. We learned as much of the same as different this time.

Currently, I’m preparing a 2011 tour with students. The Team AZ Travel Journal is designed to be a clearinghouse for those interested in being part of it. If you’re interested in experiencing Europe―tracing the Beatles’ footsteps in front of London’s Abbey Road Studios, cruising the quaint canals of Amsterdam, enjoying a sausage in Munich’s Marienplatz, pondering the beauty of The Birth of Venus in Florence, lounging among the motley crowd on Rome’s Spanish Steps, breathing the crisp Alpine air of Mr. Pilatus in Switzerland, drinking in the night from the heights of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, or wondering at the intricacy of Barcelona’s La Sagrada Familia―and you have or will have completed at least your sophomore year by the time we travel, contact me for details.
